Yes it seems to work both ways for me, though I was hoping to be able to crop the "abstract" as a vertical rather than horizontal composition. I don't know if anyone will revisit this or not, but when I first started photoblogging, I read that the sure mark of an "amateur" was cropping images to non-standard digital image sizes (e.g., not 640x480, 1024x768, etc.) I winced because I had been doing that all the time. How do you people feel about cropping images? Is there a good reason to adhere to the usual 4:3 aspect ratio of a digital image when posting on a photoblog??
THe frame size and shape should suit the image not some fixed idea of what is right or wrong! More often than not I do not crop, but sometimes I do and I suppose I tend to stick to standard shapes - though I am by no means a pro.
In a blog, the best format is landscape and probably 4:3 because that is what fits easiest on a screen today, but any shape is fine by me. I do prefer it if I can fit the whole picture on at once though.

This would have made an inrteresting abstract with the top- portion cropped away.
I like it as is. The wall of sand and the lines are interesting and the touch of blue at the top give it soothing effect.
