BTW, the aurora borealis? Yes, we see it in the fall, winter and spring. I've never seen it in the summertime. I have about 5 photos on Flickr of it.

Hmmmm – our herons do look very similar to Susan's.

All About Birds indicates that these herons have a wide range extending from Canada to South America.
