Rock of Cashel, Muenster, Ireland

The Rock of Cashel, on which sit a castle and cathedral, was the seat of the Kings of Muenster, Ireland, for many centuries. Most of the buildings presently on the site date from the 12th to 14th centuries, but the Kings ruled there for several hundred years prior to that.

I know, Susan! WHY don't we have castles and cool medieval stuff like this? I mean...there were people living in North America back then, and we have just as many rocks!

Loved seeing your holiday pics. What wonderful names!!
I may have to make scones for afternoon tea and pretend I'm in bonnie Ireland :)
I'm always amazed at how ancient their buildings are. Imagine building them way back then.....
But we've just had a week of company (a family of four) and now we're determined to eat non-fattening foods for at least a little while!
