Anya, I used Ulead's Photo Impact (poor person's Adobe Photoshop). It came with my printer. I used the Effects/Distort/Warp with Grid tool. I couldn't get out to photograph anything that day because I had the flu or something. I was trying not to miss a day on the photoblog, so I decided just to take a picture of the messy room, and then distort it to convey the feelings of running a fever -- disorientation, everything feeling "out of reach", harsh light from the window, everything else dim and blurry.

hey thanks for the tips! unfortunately, i am even poorer than you so all i have is the complimentary paint program on my comp; it's pretty limited. but i'm thinking of investing in photoshop. i mean i like dinkering around with photo stuff so i might as well get the best. and that's the thing too, photoshop knows they're the best so they make their software so freaking expensive!!!
i just reaaally love the effect in your pic :-)
