Lake Erie Driftwood Revisited

I believe this is the same driftwood spot as in this photo taken last year around this time, but the storms over the past year have brought in new pieces of wood and piled them up against last years driftwood, and now it's quite a tangle. My friend and I had a great day at Headlands Beach on Tuesday--walking through the dunes, watercolor painting, strolling on the beach, and fried perch at Brennan's Fish House in Fairport Harbor.

In the dunes, Headlands Beach, Lake Erie 

Fairport Harbor Lighthouse. I spent this windy, wild day at Headlands Beach. Lake Erie was awash with sizable waves and whitecaps. After hours of walking the beach and shooting photos, I can still hear the wind and the surf.

Headlands Dunes. Today we hiked 6 miles, from Headlands Beach to Mentor Marsh. This wide expanse of sand dunes is quite rare along Ohio's Lake Erie shoreline. Fairport Harbor Lighthouse is in the distance.
