  3. Do the round bales also belong to the Amish? Just wondering because I didn't think they had much in the way of machinery, and you certainly don't make those round bales by hand.

  4. Alice, I think the Amish only make the corn shalks. There is a machine that makes the round bales. A friend of mine who grew up on a farm, said making these corn shalks is hard work. The friend who lives next door to the Amish farm says that the whole family -- right down to the 7 year old boy -- spend days making these shalks.
