Purple flower - can anyone identify?


Purple flower - can anyone identify this?  It was growing by my daughter's driveway. It's a monocot (3 petals, parallel veined leaf) but we don't know if it's a garden flower or a weed.  It's pretty whatever it is.

    that purple flower is a spiderwort technically a weed but we have them in our gardens they bloom all year
