Red tree from the other side of the soybeans. Still experimenting with exposure compensation -- this time -1/3 and spot metering on the red tree.

Beyond the soybeans. Thanks to Jan Bussey for the tip about setting the exposure compensation down to -2/3 in bright sun and using a center-weighted average for metering. I will have to explore this more.

Stone Wall. Everytime I take this shot and view it on screen, I see something new, this time a black spider about to slip between the rocks. (Click to enlarge.)

Stone Wall. I need to revisit this one tomorrow to zoom in on that round stone (far left). If you click to enlarge this photo, you'll see that it may have some interesting patterns in it.

Web Ship. This morning the yew trees were covered with these misty webs. I don't know what makes these webs -- spiders? caterpillars? fall tent worms? -- but whatever made this one seemed to be making a model sail boat out of his web. Does anyone else see that?

Sad face. Went out to the apple orchard today and came across a farm raising Highland Cattle. It was a very gloomy day, at least in the morning, and none of my shots turned out well. Rock had mentioned a trick for catching color on grey days -- something to do with highlights. Can anyone explain in more detail. We have more than our share of grey days here in NE Ohio. :-(

View from inside the windmill. The miller's daughter keeps her windows a bit cleaner than the Lighthouse Keeper's daughter.

Working Windmill. Did you know: If the sails of the windmill are left in a "+" position, the miller is away temporarily. If they are left in an "x" position, he is away indefinitely.

Lighthouse Window. Somehow I imagine the lighthouse keeper's daughter daydreaming out this window.
